Netflix Announces Assassin’s Creed Live-Action Series

It’s a good day if you love Assassin’s Creed. Netflix announced that they would be partnering up with game developer Ubisoft to develop a live-action series based on the Assassin’s Creed game series.

This is not the first time Assassin’s Creed has attempted to be brought to live-action. In 2016, Michael Fassbender starred in a live-action film that didn’t do well at the box office and with critics. I found it a little entertaining. The writers made some odd changes to the overall story, but I love Fassbender. The potential is already there for this series.

What will be interesting to see is if the series will take the same story from the video games, or will the writers decide to introduce a new character? Ezio is one of the greatest video game characters of all time. I would love to see his story on screen, but Netflix needs to do it right. They have a good record when it comes to casting and live-action adaptations. Let’s hope that trend continues.

All the writers need to do is closely follow the source material. Not doing so has killed many films and shows, but as long as Netflix makes no such mistake here, everything will be fine. You would think it would be hard to screw up but look at titles such as Resident Evil, Doom, and the upcoming Monster Hunter film.

A Good Day for Ubisoft

Today is not just a big day for Assassin’s Creed fans, but Ubisoft as well. Cyberpunk 2077 was the biggest competition in November for the next installment, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. However, it was announced today that Cyberpunk would once again be delayed. You can imagine how happy Ubisoft is feeling. I don’t blame them for wanting to flex their muscle a bit now.

Netflix is slowly starting to acquire more video game properties to make shows out of. Castlevania is a fantastic anime for someone who doesn’t watch anime. The Witcher is another fantastic show that everyone NEEDS to watch. Netflix has a good track record. Assassin’s Creed is in good hands.
