Is Quinnen Williams Being Actively Shopped by The New York Jets?

Quinnen Williams has been one of the few bright spots on a dark, desolate team, as the New York Jets sit at 0-7 and will continue to lose.

They will be sellers at the deadline. However, Williams is one of those guys that they shouldn’t trade. The second-year pass rusher is a game-changer on a decent team.

Quinnen Williams Should Not Be Traded

The Jets are looking for solutions to the problem. And some of those solutions exist on the team, believe it or not. There has been a lot of confusion today regarding Williams. Conflicting reports from Manish Mehta and Rich Cimini have sent Jets fans in a stir.

Trading Williams makes no sense. Because the return for him won’t be worth his actual value, he’s cheap right now. Still, on the rookie contract, there is no reason to move an excellent young star. Should the Jets land the No. 1 pick and get Trevor Lawrence, and most importantly, finally get the coach right, once Adam Gase is finally gone, they will be in an excellent position to make a turnaround.

Quinnen Williams Will Be Part of The Solution

Willams may net New York a second-round pick at best. It just makes no sense to trade him. You don’t sell someone who has been a promising young player for a year who is still on a team-friendly contract. General manager Joe Douglas needs to build that defense right, and Williams belongs in the turnaround.

There are other pieces on this Jet team that can be traded for a valuable return. Guys like Jamison Crowder or even Sam Darnold will bring you a lot more back than Williams will. If we are sincere, trading Darnold will get you not only good picks in return, but it will almost solidify the Jets getting the No. 1 pick.

Nevertheless, trading Williams is not a good move. At this point, you have to be sellers, but don’t sell guys that will help down the road.
