Trey was right… again. And I’m not talking about the most recent time I was right about the Celtics either. I’m talking about the idiotic trade from three years ago where everyone acted like Brad Stevens was a god, said I was being unreasonable, then refused to acknowledge the truth. Trading Aaron Nesmith should be viewed as unforgivable, and it should be a stain on Stevens’ resume.
Yes, I’m talking about the Malcolm Brogdon trade. The trade was stupid from the jump. I don’t need hindsight bias to prove it. I have all the receipts to prove it. It was the same offseason where the Celtics wasted their mid-level exception on Danilo Gallinari, let him play in international basketball, he gets hurt, never plays a game for Boston.
That’s been the Brad Stevens experience. He’s been on the job since 2021. All he has to show for it is Jordan Walsh, Hugo Gonzalez, Baylor Scheierman, and an expiring Anfernee Simons. I just want to know why nobody brings up the fact that Danny Ainge drafted Nesmith and he should still be part of this core.
Just like he drafted Payton Pritchard in that same draft class, and he’s since turned into an invaluable piece for this team. Don’t worry, Stevens tried to give him away too, but nobody brings that part up either.
Brogdon played one season for Boston and performed in the most predictable way possible. Blue balls during the regular season. Faded like a chump in the playoffs when it actually mattered. I just want to know why nobody brings it up? I just want to know when everyone will stop pretending Stevens is good at his job. It’s criminal that Nesmith isn’t part of the core in Boston, and I can’t believe more people aren’t mad about it.
