Derek Carr Is “Sick Of Losing”

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has been a bright spot for the team in 2020. Carr is completing over 73% of his passes through four games with an 8-0 TD to INT ratio. It’s crystal clear that Carr is not the problem despite the 2-2 record.

After a 2-0 start, the Raiders have dropped two straight to the Patriots and Bills. Two strong opponents, albeit. However, with Kansas City next on the schedule, things don’t get much more comfortable.

Carr expressed frustration after the 30-23 loss on Sunday. Carr is “sick of losing”:

“I’m sick of losing,” Carr said. “I’m sick of working as hard as I do, and as we do, and going out there and losing. I mean, it sucks. Enough is enough.

“The things that are hurting us in these close games is not them; it’s us. That’s the hard part to swallow.”

“Me being here, my seventh year, I’ve seen too much crap,” Carr said. “I’ve seen a whole bunch of crap, if I’m just being honest with you.

“Is it going to take my positivity and my joy away? Absolutely not. I’m going to be me, regardless. But is it OK for me to be a little hot, a little pissed sometimes? Yeah. And this is one of those moments.”

It wasn’t all bad for Carr on Sunday. The former Fresno State product tied Hall of Famer Ken Stabler with career TD pass No. 150 in a Silver and Black uniform. A pretty significant accomplishment for Carr.

Losing sucks, and turnovers are killing this team. The Raiders fumbled four times and lost three of them against the Bills. Vegas’ -4 turnover differential is the fourth-worst mark in the league. That speaks volumes considering that Carr has not thrown a pick yet.

Additionally, the defense is giving up an average of 30 points a game. That unit has to improve if the Raiders want to take the next step. Defensive coordinator Paul Guenther could be on the hot seat.
