Blue Jays Asking Price For Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Has Been Revealed

The Blue Jays are working on an extension for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. but they have also been given a Spring Training deadline. If a contract isn’t done by the start of Spring, Vladdy Jr. will test the open market after the 2025 MLB Season. It could force Toronto to seek a trade and if they go down that route, they have an asking price in mind.

VIA The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon (Don’t click the link. It’s locked behind a paywall. I’ll give you all the information you need. We were at VSM view The Athletic as a trashbag company.):

“To even think about trading Guerrero, a package would have to include major leaguers and top prospects. And exceed the value the San Diego Padres received from the New York Yankees for Soto,” league sources said.”

“For Soto and outfielder Trent Grisham, the Padres acquired right-handers Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Johnny Brito, and Randy Vásquez, along with catcher Kyle Higashioka. They later made Thorpe the centerpiece of a trade for righty Dylan Cease.”

The Toronto front office has every right to ask for more than what the Padres got for Juan Soto. I felt the Soto package a year ago was light even though it was for one year of service (video link here).

I also can’t believe someone hasn’t gotten this trade done already if that’s what they’re asking price. If Trey was running the Red Sox, I would have gotten this trade done already. I guess, I can’t expect the same by nerds who stare at their sheets and take zero accountability.

Josh Winckowski, Cooper Criswell, Vaughn Grissom, Franklin Arias, and Allan Castro. Send it in already…
