Josh Jacobs is the Perfect Fantasy RB for 2020

Josh Jacobs will not be the first RB taken in fantasy football drafts this year. However, sitting with a current ADP of 1.12, he is the perfect fantasy RB at this moment. Here’s why:

High Ceiling

With limited involvement in the passing game during the 2019 season, Jacobs was a solid RB2 at the end of his rookie campaign. Entering the 2020 season, the sophomore running back has the potential to leap to top-5 RB status.

The Raiders have assembled a deep RB room. In spite of this, no player at that position can handle the three-down workload that Jacobs has endured. Entering 2020, Las Vegas has significantly improved Derek Carr’s receiving options. The added threats will unclog the box for improved rushing while also providing Jacobs additional work in the passing game. Adding receptions, touchdowns, and yards to his fantasy numbers from last year will boost Jacob’s ceiling into elite status.

Average Draft Position

Jacobs’ current draft position is perfect. Sitting at 1.12 allows fantasy teams who have back-to-back selections at the end of round one to select a RB with the potential of those selected in the first 4 picks. It is conceivable that fantasy owners could couple Jacobs with the likes of Julio Jones, Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon, or DeAndre Hopkins. Starting a fantasy team with two of these players as cornerstones would be a beauty.

In auction drafts, Jacobs is valued at $39. For comparison, Dalvin Cook and Derrick Henry have values of $52 and $55, respectively. Saving up to $16 on a player who could eclipse the production of more expensive RBs is a huge advantage. Josh Jacobs could do just that for fantasy teams in 2020.
