Netflix’s Cuties Trailer Has Over One Million Dislikes

Wow, That’s a lot of Dislikes

You did not read that headline wrong. The trailer for Netflix’s upcoming movie “Cuties” has over one million dislikes on YouTube. ONE MILLION DISLIKES!

I almost hate putting the video in here, but now it gives you access to go add a dislike to it as well. Here is why. The description for the film is about a girl named Amy who “rebels against her conservative family’s traditions when she becomes fascinated with a free-spirited dance crew.” That’s all fine and dandy, but you know what the problem is? Amy is ELEVEN YEARS OLD.

The “free-spirited” dance crew just twerks and dress in overtly sexual clothing and the film itself has an adult rating. But if it’s a movie that is supposed to be about a little girl coming into her own, while limit the film by rating it mature? Netflix has already come under fire for a promotional poster that had the under age girls in tight clothing and sexual poses. This movie absolutely rubs me the wrong way.

Listen, I understand that sometimes “art” can be open to interpretation. But what is artistic about sexualizing eleven-year-old girls? And don’t give me the “it’s a different culture we can’t understand” excuse. Or that the film is a representation of the extremes that social media has on young girls or people in general. There are better ways of telling that story. Ways that do not include young girls twerking as entertainment.

Let me also say this, I don’t care what other people do. If a woman wants to spend her days twerking on TikTok or make an OnlyFans, then so be it. Every person has the right to choose how they live their life. If a girl that grew up in an extremely conservative household wants to rebel against her parents and dance exotically, then she has that right to do it. Just don’t put out a film about eleven year old girls doing it. There are tons of other great shows on Netflix. Watch those instead.

That is an absurd amount of dislikes. I honestly couldn’t believe it when I first saw it. Once I previously read the article about the poster, I decided to go with the trailer. I happily left a dislike. If you thought Madden had it bad with its dislikes, Cuties may take the cake. Cuties should have never seen the light of day and never should have been approved by Netflix. Keep smashing the dislike button people. Y’all are the real MVPs.
