It’s officially official. After the 76ers were swept by the Celtics in the first round of the 2020 NBA Playoffs, we knew it was only a matter of time until Brett Brown got fired. The news is done now. Brown has been relieved of his duties.

Brown, 59, was hired in 2013 to resurrect the 76ers to guide them through the process. Brown has survived 3 different Gms during his tenure. Sam Hinkie, Bryan Colangelo, and Elton Brand have all made roster decisions during Brown’s tenure as coach. After 7 long years, Brown is finally out of a job.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. Nobody is winning with this 76ers roster. Unless major changes are made, this team isn’t winning anything next year. Elton Brand built the goofiest roster in the league. Philadelphia is undeniably slow and unathletic.
The Al Horford contract was a disaster from the start. That contract had no chance to work and Al’s lost all his athleticism. Tobias Harris is without question a top 5 worst contract in the sport. It doesn’t get less bang for your buck. You can’t spend $180 million on Harris who’s never been considered a superstar.
Good luck with this roster. Was Brett Brown perfect? Hell no. Was this an impossible mission to succeed? YUP. It will be interesting to see who becomes the next head coach but whoever it is has their work cut out for them. Jay Wright at Villanova is the pipe dream for Philly fans everywhere.
