It turns out the grass isn’t always greener. We talked about this very topic before the season but Jonathan Marchessault sounded totally delusional after he decided to depart Vegas. Marchessault thought he was way more important than he was and decided he needed a 5th year in the contract. Vegas wasn’t willing to oblige. Nashville did signing him to a five-year deal this offseason.
The former Conn Smythe winner is already frustrated with his new team. Nashville started the season with four straight regular season losses and Marchessault essentially called the Predators a soft team.
“Right now, I think we’re a little fragile as a group,” Marchessault told Tennessean’s Alex Daugherty. “The beginning of the season is not going like we want. In the offseason, everybody says how good you guys are going to be and everything, and we maybe have to think that we’re a good team, but we’re not good enough. We gotta work harder than the opponent.”
“We’ve got to find a way to win hockey games here,” Marchessault added, according to team reporter Brooks Bratten. “We can’t have a glimpse of our game to be good. I think it needs to be more of a consistent effort, and we’re not doing that right now.”
Marchessault, 33, has one goal and two assists through four games this season. On the flip side, the Golden Knights really haven’t struggled to replace him. It’s very early but Vegas looks like they got a steal with Victor Olofsson, who has three goals in four appearances.
