Liverpool To Hire Arne Slot As Next Manager
Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is set to become the new manager for Premier League side Liverpool, Fabrizio Romano reported Friday morning.
Slot is set to replace Jürgen Klopp, who announced earlier this year that he will leave the club following the end of the Premier League season.
Slot has succeeded with the Eredivisie club, winning the 2022-23 Dutch League and the 2023-24 Dutch Cup.
In his first season as the manager of Feyenoord, Slot led the team to the Europa Conference League final. The Dutch club would lose to Jose Mourinho and AS Roma, 1-0.
It will be hard to succeed a manager who has won every piece of hardware there is to win, but if Liverpool and fans were to back up the Dutchman, they could see rapid success as when Slot took over the Feyenoord job.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Feyenoord will want a compensation fee for Slot, as he is under contract with the team until 2026.
Erik Ten Hag is a recent Dutch manager who jumped from the Eredivisie to the Premier League. Ten Hag won the Carabao Cup in his first season with Manchester United and currently has Man United in 6th place.
Liverpool has reportedly contacted Rúben Amorim about becoming the next manager, but talks never progressed. Liverpool is currently third in the Premier League at 74 points, trailing Arsenal and Manchester City with four games left in the season.
This isn’t the manager hire many Liverpool fans were hoping for, as many wanted former Spain legend and current Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso to take over. But Alonso has announced his intentions to stay with the Bundesliga club.
