Chop Robinson 2024 NFL Draft Profile

Demeioun Robinson, nicknamed “Pork Chop”, is one of many talented pass rushers in this year’s NFL Draft. We’re doing a deep dive on Chop Robinson so enjoy his 2024 NFL Draft Profile. That’s why you’re here, right?

The Gaithersburg, Maryland native started out his career playing for the Terps. That only lasted one year. Chop then transferred to Penn State for his final two years. After playing sparingly with Maryland as a freshman, Chop racked up 9.5 sacks with the Nittany Lions.

NFL fans may scoff at the lack of production. It’s actually a similar conversation people had about Odafe Oweh, who has since turned into a pretty good player for the Ravens. If anything, fans should actually feel better about Chop’s future projection over Oweh.

Robinson, a former five star recruit, was the number one rated player in the entire state of Maryland. The former Penn State product checks in at 6-foot-3, 254, and totally blew up the Combine. Has over 32 inch arms too. Chop ran a 4.48 at the 40 and recorded a 10’8″ on the broad. He’s got juice and it wasn’t hard to see.

Chop had just four sacks during his final collegiate season. Are we sure that’s really worth a high draft pick? I think we need to look beyond just the sack total for this. Chop has shown evidence to where he can impact the game. Maybe this is something I should have went in more depth over time but we’ve learned that the Michigan left tackle isn’t great. Robinson beat the piss out of him and really forced Michigan to change their game plan. They ran the ball every single play in the second half and it had everything to do with the fact that they couldn’t block Chop. Robinson was also banged up at points this year and wasn’t totally healthy.

Let’s not overlook the kind of players Penn State has produced at this position. There are shades of Micah Parsons here. Abdul Carter next year will be a first round pick. They have freaky guys like this and they keep producing them. Chop made First-team All-Big Ten Conference in 2023 despite the low box score totals. This guy impacts the game and his raw athletic prowess is off the charts.

I have a first round grade on Chop Robinson. I’m high on the player and believe he will become a better pro than collegiate player. Which is what has happened with Parsons and Oweh. Robinson probably pegged in the middle of that group but with all the upside to turn into a super talented edge rusher.
