Jordan Travis 2024 NFL Draft Profile

Jordan Travis clearly doesn’t understand the story of the Chinese farmer. Does that mean he’s on shaky footing in terms of his NFL future too? Let’s get into all of it as we discuss his 2024 NFL Draft Profile!

We only have so much to work with on Travis. Don’t get me wrong, Travis has a ton of collegiate starts. It’s the fact that 2023 got cut short via a broken leg. It wasn’t the video game Greg Jennings version either. Travis made it 11 starts and then busted up his leg. This means we have no Combine or athletic testing information to go on. No Senior Bowl either.

Was featured several times in the Stock Report series this year. Was damn good against LSU. Did enough to top Clemson. Left some meat on the bone against Duke. More than anything when I watched him play, he just gave me Desmond Ridder vibes. A better version of Ridder but in no way shape or form resembling a real NFL quarterback.

Checks in at 6-foot-1, 200. Turns 24 next month. Former three star guy that got his start at Louisville. Then played five years at Florida State. It took him four years to get above 60%. Was at 64% the last two years. Just hasn’t been a good enough pure passer with the exception of the brief stint last year. Had a 20-2 TD to INT ratio in 2023. For as capable of an athlete as he is, there are limited real quarterback traits here. Not a natural progression reader. Makes a lot of panic decisions and doesn’t trust himself when he sees the open man. Like Ridder, he’s a pure scrambler. Makes plays on the move. Needs to be out in space to feel most comfortable. Pure arm power is probably a C+/B-.

I think Ridder went too high when he got picked. I’d be willing to go in the 5th, 6th, or 7th round for Travis. Could wind up being a better version of Tyler Huntley. Not sure this is ever a guy you’re going to hand the starting job but could become a high end backup with plus mobility. He’s improved during his college career and shouldn’t be viewed as untalented. Just doesn’t have an enormous ceiling either.
