Justin Jefferson Wants To ‘Break Bank’ With Latest Contract Talk
Wide receiver Justin Jefferson has expressed his desire to ‘break bank’ with his contract extension talk with the Minnesota Vikings.
“I want to break the bank and I want to be a part of an organization that wants me, and to really give me what I deserve,” the LSU alum told Adam Schein of Mad Dog Sports Radio. “I feel like eventually, the Vikings will do what they need to do to have me in the building, but I don’t really know at this very moment; only time will tell.”
Justin Jefferson has proven himself to be worthy enough to break the bank as a three-time pro bowler, and 2022 All-Pro receiver. Through just four seasons, Jefferson has almost 6k career receiving yards and 30 career touchdowns, despite missing 7 games due to an injury.
Currently, Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill has the largest contract in the wide out position, with his contract being 4-years and earning $120 million. It would be no surprise if Justin Jefferson would get a contract that surpasses that, or a similar number.
Jefferson was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2020 NFL Draft as the 22nd overall pick. Although it seems that Justin Jefferson wants to remain with the Vikings, if a team comes with an offer that he feels he deserves, he may be on his way out of Minnesota.
The Vikings will have to be careful with their cap space this offseason as if they have key players such as Kirk Cousins and Danielle Hunter possibly leaving this free agency.
Justin Jefferson will make $19.7 million dollars in the fifth year of his rookie contract after the Vikings opted to keep the star receiver for another year.
