JJ Redick claims The Ringer was holding him back. Bill Simmons actually grew a set and responded. I’ll give the horny old man who gets off on the NBA Trade Machine credit. His comeback is actually pretty strong.
You have to give it to him. It’s a good comeback. If you’re doing eight total episodes of a show during an entire calendar year, maybe you’re the problem. It’s also fair to suggest that Redick maybe wasn’t motivated to work for Simmons. The guy is a dope after all. I’d lose motivation working there too.
Maybe the former Duke guard should have just added on that he got more motivated when he could do the show without those idiots lurking over his shoulder.
It should also be pointed out that Redick’s complaint is true. The Ringer does not post full length episodes on video. They post show clips but they never give you access to an entire video version of a show. It’s probably hindered their progress as Redick merely pointed out.
Redick probably has a right to complain about all of this. Especially when you consider that he’s lapping The Ringer and Simmons in terms of viewership and started his show from scratch. Redick knows basketball. Those other clowns are The Ringer it’s not always the case.
Seriously, credit to Simmons though. His comeback was good. Maybe the old fart didn’t totally lose his fastball even if he admitted that he’s out of touch with reality.
