JJ Redick: The Ringer Held Me Back

JJ Redick dunked on Bill Simmons and The Ringer again. He’s already told the story about why he didn’t want to re-sign with The Ringer. Now he’s doubling down and making The Ringer look even worse in the process. Mostly by making Bill Simmons and the rest of his company feel outdated (which is exactly what they are).

VIA The Lowe Post:

“Three and a half years ago, when I was still at The Ringer, and The Ringer finally agreed to allow us to tape a couple of our podcast interviews, we taped with Zion [Williamson] and then we taped with Jimmy Butler and Duncan Robinson,” Redick told Zach Lowe on Tuesday’s edition of The Lowe Post. “And the Duncan one came out the week after the world essentially shut down, but the realization was audio doesn’t go viral, video goes viral.”

He’s right.  The Old Man and the Three YouTube Channel has nearly one million subscribers. The Ringer has about half that number. Redick found a way to double up his old company by himself. That should tell you everything you need to know.

The Ringer doesn’t promote anybody they employ other than Bill Simmons. Go look at their social media channels. The only clips they put out are when Simmons gets horny over another fake trade. Something he seems to do a lot of.

It’s safe to say that the former Duke guard made the right call leaving The Ringer and Bill Simmons behind. I’m not sure it’s even arguable. Especially considering that Redick maintains a partnership with DraftKings.
