David Kaplan Attacks Michael Lombardi For His Take On Montez Sweat

I’m just going to let you know in advance that I’m not going to come at this with an unbiased point of view. On news stories like this, I often try to stay neutral. When it comes to people defending Ryan Poles, I draw the line. You will notice the angle I took when the Chase Claypool trade went down. Today we’re going to discuss David Kaplan who works for the ESPN Chicago affiliate.

I’ll also continue by saying that I have a tremendous amount of respect for Michael Lombardi. No, he’s not perfect. He shouldn’t have taken Barkevious Mingo. He did, however, get a first round pick for Trent Richardson, which was a baller move. Lombardi is not perfect but he absolutely knows what he’s talking about. No question about that.

In terms of Sweat, I think he totally hit the nail on the head. I wrote about the trade at length. The contract that was then handed out is about as brain-dead as it gets. The idea that you’re going to give up a high second round pick for a player that’s never had double digit sacks in a season while then paying him a hair less than Myles Garrett is insane. I genuinely don’t know how anyone can argue against that.

Here is where David Kaplan enters the chat. Yes, somehow we live in a world where people feel obligated to defend a guy that moved down in the draft to swap Roquan Smith for Chase Claypool. That guy not only still has a job. People are defending him.

“I think that was the dumbest trade you could possibly make,” Lombardi said. “I don’t care what Ryan Poles tried to defend it with, he should not have done that.”

“So whatever this thick-headed idiot named Mike Lombardi continues to say, he shows you each day that he’s dumber than the day before,”” Kaplan said.

“If he’s on VSiN and I’m burning that chip in my car so I can’t get that station anymore,” Kaplan added. “Cuz if they’re that stupid to have that idiot on the air … he’s just dumb, he doesn’t think through what he says, and that’s why he’s not a freaking executive. He’s a gambling addict on the radio!”

The only idiot here is Kaplan. What an absolute loser. Such pathetic fanboy behavior. Don’t know what working for VSiN has anything to do with his knowledge of football.

Kaplan needs a slap and I’m willing to debate at any time on his radio show. If he’s not scared that is. We know he’s scared though. He’d never invite me or Lombardi on for an open debate.
