The mainstream media has been slamming the James Harden trade at basically every turn. If you ask the players in the Clippers’ locker room, they seem to be in favor of the move. Well, at least Paul George is.
PG went on his “Podcast P with Paul George,” and basically called Harden a perfect fit with the team.
“I think he’s gonna fit in perfectly. … What I love about it is just all four of us are high-IQ players, so when it comes into game time, we all know where everyone’s supposed to be,” George said.
“So, we all can run plays in different positions. Like I don’t have to be in this certain spot, James can be in that spot now. Russ doesn’t have to bring the ball up, Kawhi can bring the ball up. And we can all get to our spots – run the same play, but we can run it and get different options out of it based off of the player that’s in it.”
I did try to mention this in a recent post I did but it’s hard to really disagree. I’m not a James Harden defender, but what the hell did the Clippers really give up to get this deal done? It was mostly scraps that the Clippers probably would have had to attach picks to just to get rid of. Marcus Morris, Nicolas Batum, Robert Covington, and Kenyon Martin Jr. were sent to Philly in the deal. Again, what piece are you scared to give up in that trade?
Time will tell how the Harden acquisition pans out. Either way, I think we’re all excited to watch this puppy eventually crash and burn.
