Robert Williams Is Already Hurt With Blazers And Likely Needs Knee Surgery
UPDATE: Williams will officially undergo season-ending knee surgery, it was reported Friday.
I don’t even know how to start this blog by saying anything other than this is just terrible news. You never want to see this. I have so much respect for the way Robert Williams tried to gut out the 2022 NBA Finals when his knee clearly wasn’t right. Now with Portland, the man known as Timelord is hurt again.
Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that Williams injured his knee and will likely require surgery:
I’m not a doctor so take my opinion with a grain of salt in this particular instance. However, conventional wisdom would probably lead you down this path. Whatever is going on with Williams’ knee, just figure it out and get it right. There is no need to rush back. Especially while under contract with a tanking Blazers team. Whatever the issue is, get it fixed and think long term. I hope that’s what the doctors are telling Timelord.
Williams, 26, was part of the trade that sent Jrue Holiday to Boston. Part of the reason why I viewed the trade as a no-brainer for the Celtics is because they were sending two players out the door who struggle to stay healthy. Timelord only made it six games in his Portland tenure before going down with an injury. Malcolm Brogdon was the other notable piece of the trade. We know it’s only a matter of time before he goes down too. Jrue Holiday has since flourished with the Celtics as Boston feels like a prime contender to win the title.
