A.J. Brown cried when Patriots drafted N’Keal Harry over him

A.J. Brown cried when Patriots drafted N’Keal Harry over him

It has been quite the fall from grace for the New England Patriots. The 2023 season has been a dumpster fire, all but signifying the end of the once-great Patriots dynasty. Mac Jones has looked horrible and the offense looks inept. Head coach Bill Belichick could even be on his way out soon with how bad things have gotten.

It’s crazy to think about but at this point, it very much is an option. Part of why that’s the case has been Bill’s inability to consistently hit on draft picks. It’s plagued the post-Brady era and put the Patriots in a loop of mediocrity. One of those misses was the decision to draft N’Keal Harry over A.J. Brown, who recently gave some insight into his emotions regarding the Patriots’ decision.

I mean talking about rubbing salt in the wound? I don’t need to go too much into detail regarding just how much of a blunder this was. Time has already done that for me. But just so you get an idea, Brown’s worst season saw him rack up 869 yards on 63 receptions for five touchdowns. Harry’s career stats are as follows: 64 receptions for 704 yards and five touchdowns.

If that doesn’t paint a picture of just how bad this was, then nothing will. Brown is a two-time pro bowler currently on pace to earn his first All-Pro selection. Meanwhile, Harry provided almost no value to the Patriots running any chance at a re-tool.

Then to just add insult to injury, you find out Brown was practically begging to be a Patriot. Brown was a fan of them his entire life, so it seemed like destiny he would end up there–especially when it was all but a guarantee that the Pats would take a receiver.

But instead, the Patriots took N’Keal Harry, causing Brown to cry in his closet. Safe to say he’s come out on top in the end. Who knows, if the Pats took Brown, maybe Brady would have stayed a few more years–delaying this drastic downfall.

For now, that will have to be just speculation for the New England faithful. It’s looking like a long road of rebuilding for the Patriots. I’m sure there will be a lot of Patriots fans copying A.J. Brown by crying in their closets.

I’d say I feel bad, but that wouldn’t really be the truth. Nobody has had it better than Patriots fans for the last 20 years. You should be able to stomach a few losing seasons. But missing out on A.J. Brown, that’s something I can understand being upset about.
