Ravens Add Terrell Suggs To Ring Of Honor

The Sizzle gets some respect today. Yes, this is a blog where the headline gives everything away. What else was I supposed to put for the title? The Baltimore Ravens are adding Terrell Suggs to the Ring of Honor inside of M&T Stadium.

The Ravens team Twitter account put out two posts to honor number 55. Suggs will be inducted into the Ring of Honor on October 22. The Ravens play Detroit on that day at home.

I hope this was an easy decision for the Ravens because Suggs is arguably the best pass rusher in team history. That’s while talking about a team that has so many icons on the defensive side of the ball. Suggs is Baltimore’s all time sack leader with 132.5. Suggs has 139 in his career and won an extra Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs. Suggs, of course, was on that 2012 Ravens team too.

Baltimore selected Suggs with the 10th overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft. Fun fact, the Ravens would have selected Byron Leftwich if he were available. Let’s thank our lucky stars that never happened. Talk about a lucky break right there. Suggs was a great player for this organization for a long time. He’s a very deserving add to the Ring of Honor.

The Ravens still haven’t properly replaced Suggs, by the way. They just signed Jadeveon Clowney to fill the Justin Houston role. The rest of the pass rushers on the roster are a far cry from what Suggs used to do year in and year out.
