John Cena’s WWE return date revealed

WWE legend John Cena has been a cornerstone of the company’s programming for the better part of two decades, and he will continue his career this fall as a return date has been confirmed.

When someone in WWE gets to the level of stardom that John Cena has reached in recent years, they get to enjoy the perks of not having to travel for 200-plus days a year, living out of a suitcase and not being able to see their families. However, there is something about the wrestling business that manages to draw people back in, and the ‘Doctor of Thuganomics’ is no exception to that rule.

It has been confirmed by Fox Sports that Cena will be making his WWE return this fall, specifically the September 1st edition of Smackdown that will air live from the GIANT Center in Hershey, Penn. The show will be the final WWE event before the Payback premium live event (PLE), which takes place on the following day at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, but it is yet to be confirmed whether or not Cena will be involved on Sep. 2nd.

John Cena could also be traveling to India with WWE

Not only will John Cena be appearing on the September 1st edition of WWE Smackdown, but it has also been confirmed by Fox Sports that the 16-time world champion will be making the trip to India for the “Superstar Spectacle” event that takes place on September 8th.

The GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad will be the building to host WWE’s first event in India since December 2017, with names such as Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch and Sami Zayn all confirmed to appear.

No matches have been confirmed for the event at the time of writing, but given that the last time the company held an event in India, Triple H had one of his final one-on-one encounters before retirement, expect John Cena to play a huge part in what will surely be an exciting event.
