PSG is set to sign yet another player as the club moves on from its super team era. This time, PSG is set to add Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos. The French giants will pay Ramos’s current club Benfica an €80 million ($88 million) transfer fee to secure his services, according to Fabrizio Romano. Of this fee, €65 million will be paid upfront, with the remaining €15 coming in add-on fees.
Ramos will initially join PSG on a season-long loan. His move will be made permanent at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.
Ramos has been linked with a move to top clubs for a while now due to his elite-level performances for Benfica. Last season, he scored 27 goals and provided 12 assists for Benfica in 47 appearances. His contributions helped Benfica win its 38th Liga Portugal title.
Ramos also has international experience. He has earned seven caps for Portugal and has scored four goals for his national team. Three of these goals came during Portugal’s 2022 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 matchup against Switzerland.
This is a good signing for PSG. Ramos has goals in him, and with better players around him at PSG, is likely to improve on his goalscoring form that he had for Benfica and be a top-level striker for the French giants.
Ramos will be PSG’s ninth major signing this summer as the club looks to rebuild under new manager Luis Enrique. The club has also signed Milan Škriniar, Marco Asensio, Manuel Ugarte, Hugo Ekitike, Lee Kang-in, Lucas Hernandez, Xavi Simons and Arnau Tenas this summer.
