Allen Lazard on Sean Payton’s comments: ‘Everyone is entitled to their own opinion’

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton has been giving out his opinions left and right these last few weeks. He even would go as far as to say that former Packers and Broncos coach Nathanial Hackett had one of the worst coaching jobs in NFL history. Now, former wide receiver under Hackett, Allen Lazard, has clapped back at Payton.

Payton, acquired by the Broncos after the end of last season, has certainly not left any room for love for his competitors this offseason. The veteran head coach has called out not only Hackett, but the New York Jets and Robert Saleh as well. Only a few minutes after the interview, Payton would take back his comments towards Hackett and the Jets leading to a spark between the teams.

The 27-year-old receiver has since backed up his former Packers and now Jets coach after Payton’s comments.

“Hackett is the best teacher I’ve ever had in my life,” Lazard said, via Antwan Staley of the New York Daily News. “His personality, his style of teaching, coaching, his vulnerability just to be himself, I think it’s very powerful and it speaks to high regard of him being comfortable with himself.

“I think what Aaron said spoke for everyone here. At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. We have bigger things to worry about than people worry about our offensive coordinator.”

As the beef continues, Lazard and the rest of the Jets will look to take their comments onto the field. Denver will face off against New York in a late afternoon matchup on Oct. 8th during Week 5.
