Sweet Chick is a hot new spot popping up around the streets of New York City. It’s known for its fried chicken that will not disappoint any chicken lover! They have many chicken options such as a breakfast menu, sandwiches, salads and of course, chicken and waffles.
Sweet Chick first opened in 2013 in Williamsburg, N.Y. Immediately, this delicious joint sparked the interest of fans of fried chicken around the city. Within the next few years, Sweet Chick opened up five new restaurants around the city, and one on the West Coast in Los Angeles, Calif.
With options of grilled or fried, sweet or salty, Sweet Chick offers healthy options along with greasy ones. The hot chicken has the perfect amount of spice along with a great salty flavor to match. It’s refreshing to try hot chicken that actually has a good amount of spice, also offering condiments, such as hot sauce and honey packets. I recommend putting some honey on the hot chicken to give it a tang of sweetness to compliment the savory spiciness.
The spicy honey butter chicken is also a favorite as it offers a fresher option to the hot chicken. This one has a crunchy and oniony bite from the slaw. They are the perfect addition to the sweet and buttery chicken.
Along with the chicken, Sweet Chick offers an array of sides that are cheap and a balanced layer to the entire meal. The jalapeno cheddar hush puppies were my favorite, as they added a cheesy warmth to compliment the chicken. Each bite was greasy and spicy, and alongside it came a perfect sauce to build more flavor to the meal.
Sweet Chick is the perfect spot to head with friends all around the city when you’re craving authentic and spicy fried chicken!
