Sadio Mane is very close to becoming the latest big-name player to join the Saudi Pro League leaving Bayern Munich after one season. According to Fabrizio Romano, Mane is having his medical test with Al-Nassr on Monday ahead of a £24m ($30.87m) transfer.
Once the move is completed it will see Mane team up with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr. The 31-year-old will be paid over £34m ($43.73m) per year until 2027, according to Sky Sports.
The move will be taking place just one year after Mane left Liverpool for Bayern Munich. The move away from Bayern may not be that surprising after Mane punched teammate Leroy Sané following a Champions League defeat last season.
Mane started almost every match for the German Titans before suffering an injury that forced him to miss nine matches.
Despite a one-match suspension and injury troubles, the Senegalese star finished with 12 goals and six assists across all competitions for Bayern last season.
If Mane passes his medical and signs with Al-Nassr he will become the fourth player since Ronaldo to sign for the Saudi club from one of Europe’s top-five leagues. He will be following the moves of Alex Telles from Manchester United, Marcelo Brozovic from Inter Milan, and Seko Fofana from Lens.
The story of the summer transfer window has been all the players moving to the Saudi Pro League, and Mane will be another huge name to make the move.
Before playing for Bayern, Mane spent six seasons starring for Liverpool. During his tenure there he helped Liverpool win everything possible for the Premier League club. The front three of Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino were one of the world’s most dangerous at the time.
Al-Nassr will get their 2023-24 campaign underway on August 14 when they take on Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq.
