David Pastrňák Thanks Patrice Bergeron For Helping Him Develop

Everyone seems to understand how important Patrice Bergeron was for the Bruins unless you’re an uneducated dope that hosts a radio show in Boston. David Pastrňák chimed in on Bergeron’s recent retirement and gave the former captain all the praise in the world.

The man known as Pasta credited Bergeron for helping him mature and develop as a player:

Bergy’s just an unbelievable human being … it’s been a pleasure to learn from him. It’s not always about the hockey but it’s about the humanity as well. He’s a big part of a lot of guys growing up and being good people.

I can’t thank him enough for everything he has done for me … I’m very grateful to know him as a friend and teammate.

Pastrňák, 27, played out of his mind during Bergeron’s final season with the Bruins. Pasta pocked a personal best 61 goals en route to a career-high 113 point total. Pasta didn’t play much 5 on 5 with Bergeron anymore but did so on the powerplay. Who knows how the lines will shake out but it’s pretty obvious the Bruins need a top-line center to replace Bergeron.

Pasta will enter the first year of a big-money extension he just signed with the Bruins. Pasta is going to score goals with or without Bergeron. It’s just never going to be the same without him in the locker room. Boston is going to win a lot fewer faceoffs too. It’s going to be an uphill climb to make the playoffs without him.
