I still can’t get over the Chiefs drafting Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The KC brass has said that their new running back is better than Brian Westbrook. The thing is that they’re probably right. The clowns over at PFF can say whatever they want. All I know is that Clyde Edwards-Helaire is perfect for the Chiefs and they got a hell of a lot better.

Patrick Mahomes is great. There is no denying that. What I think we should mention is that he’s been really good without a reliable running back. Damien Williams is fine but he rushed for less than 500 yards a year ago. LeSean McCoy is washed and Darrel Williams is a glorified full back. On the offensive side, someone like Clyde Edwards-Helaire was their missing piece.

More than anything, this is a valuable asset in the passing game. Edwards-Helaire even played some slot for LSU. This is a natural pass catcher that can create problems.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire

For years Andy Reid turned guys like Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy into stars. Being able to craft up plays for the running back in the passing game is something Reid has excelled at. Imagine what he can do with this bowling ball? All this guy did is break tackles and create problems for defenses.

Finally, the Chiefs have a reliable running back. The best part is Edwards-Helaire has next to no tread on the tires. CEH is quicker than fast but explosive. He was vital in the LSU National championship run rushing for 1,415 yards and 16 touchdowns on 215 carries. Now Edwards-Helaire goes right to another champion. Sometimes the rich get richer. Good luck stopping this offense now.
