Hire Mike Lowell As The Next Red Sox Manager

This entire Sign Stealing scandal is total bullshit. The most ridiculous part was having Alex Cora lose his job as Red Sox manager for what he did as a bench coach in Houston. Will never make sense. The Sox are forced to look for a new manager, but we may have found our solution. Mike Lowell needs to become the next Red Sox manager.

In an interview with Rob Bradford of WEEI, Lowell said he would take the Sox job under one condition:

“I would love to if I knew it was just for a year and Cora was guaranteed to come back,” Lowell said in a text to WEEI.com Saturday morning.

Where do I sign? Hey, Chaim, what are you waiting for? This is your guy? How perfect would this be? Mike Lowell can take the reigns for a year, then Cora gets his job back. Why hasn’t this happened already?

In my mind, there are only two other options. Dustin Pedroia can take the role as a player manager. Pedroia’s knees are shot anyway. I’d love to see what he could do as the manager. He’s one of the best leaders the Sox have ever had. The other choice would be Jason Varitek who was the infamous catcher for most of my childhood. Varitek defines grit. Anybody that will throw a glove in ARod’s face has my vote.

Still, the choice to go with Lowell makes a lot of sense. Lowell is an analyst of MLB Network and stays around the game. Lowell was a great third baseman for the Sox and won the 2007 World Series with Boston. Given the fact that he’s willing to be a bridge coach, Mike Lowell should get the job.
