Commissioner Rob Manfred and the rest of MLB has no idea how badly they are damaging the sport with this Astros Sign stealing scandal. The people who are actually angry about this are just mad that they think their team got cheated despite the fact that their team does the same shit. It’s like throwing the one guy in jail who uses his phone in the doctors’ office despite the fact that everybody does it and there’s no official law or punishment against it. The entire thing is a joke and Rob Manfred should be ashamed of himself.

Luckily, there is one sane person out there who said something that needed to be said. Jessica Mendoza said what every person who can actually function has wanted to say. Mike Fiers is a huge pussy. Mendoza just did in a way a Stanford grad would say it.

Mendoza later walked it back (which I’m incredibly disappointed about) but her point here stands. Everybody knows the saying. “snitches get stitches”. I’m not going to say something bad will happen to Fiers but this might be the biggest pussy move in the history of American Sports. This guy is mad and snitched on his former team for, at best “bending the rules” because he didn’t get re-signed. MLB only investigated this because Fiers acted like the 4th grader who hates the one kid who cheated on a spelling test but only after he already benefited from cheating. Except that’s a bad example because there’s no written rule with defined punishment for sign stealing.

Even if you disagree with me (which you’re just not very smart) what you can’t deny is that Rob Manfred is one of the least organized people in sports of all-time. He put out a statement that players from the Astros wouldn’t be punished but put pressure on the Mets to fire Beltran. New information is coming out by the second. What he’s done is exonerated every future player that “cheats”. Instead, the manager will be fired instead. That will definitely make sign stealing go away. Even if you disagree with me, you can’t deny that this was an incredibly foolish move by Manfred.

The fact of the matter is that Manfred made a huge mistake. He should have taken the Adam Silver approach. Silver could have went on a war path for teams tampering. He quickly realized the entire league does it and it was best not to cause a distraction and put a black eye over the sport. Manfred doesn’t get it. Instead, he’s turned it into the Salem Witch Trials. Hey, I’m sure this will help the sport gain viewers.
