Strong Chance Jon Jones Fights At Heavyweight In 2020

Jon Jones is the most talented fighter to ever step foot in the octagon. I don’t think anyone can disagree with that. Jones has destroyed the light heavyweight division and needs a new challenge. Jones will defend his belt against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 on February 8th in Houston Texas. After that, it looks like Bones Jones will jump to Heavyweight.

“I think it’s a very strong possibility — absolutely,” Jones said at a UFC 247 news conference. “Absolutely. There’s always gonna be someone next [at light heavyweight]. I feel as if I’ve cleared the division and I’m waiting around and I’m taking on new challenges. I’m not sitting on the title; I’m not hiding from anybody. I chose Dominick because he appears to be the best out of all of my contenders. And I’m just ready to take over the world, man. Really.”

Stipe Miocic is the champ right now but he has one more fight with Daniel Cormier scheduled. If Stipe wins, then maybe Jones is next. The Brock Lesner idea has been thrown around but Jones will kick his ass. Jon Jones is so athletic that I don’t think he would have a problem at any weight class. Jon also said that he works out with his older brother Art all the time. Art was a former NFL defensive lineman so he’s used to working out with heavier guys.

I can’t ignore the best part of the presser. The comments that Jon Jones had about Colby Covington (who fights at UFC 245) were too funny. You can just tell nobody likes Covington. NOBODY. Too funny.

Whatever 2020 brings, let’s just hope Jones is healthy, clean, and focuses. The MMA world is better when he is in it.
