Spencer Dinwiddle Calls Nicolas Claxton the Nets’ Second-Most Talented Player

First of all, WHO?! I like to think that I know a majority of players in the NBA. Sure some guys slip by where I don’t notice. But this guy? Who the hell is he? Second of all, when Spencer Dinwiddle said this he was including Kevin Durant AND Kyrie Irving. Therefore, he implied that Kyrie Irving was not the Nets’ most talented player after KD. Here is the full quote here via Brian Lewis of the New York Post:

“So, I still believe JA is going to be an All-Star, but Nic is the second-most talented player on this team,” Dinwiddie said. “[First] is KD, either the first or second most talented scorer of all-time. But Nic’s got game. He’s got a chance [to be great].”

Okay, I mean sure, Dinwiddle could have just been giving high praise and not meaning literally. But if that is the case, he would have just said he’s one of the most talented players on the team. Not to be the instigator that I definitely am, but this sounds like just pure shade at Kyrie Irving.

Nicolas Claxton Stats

Nicolas Claxton is a rookie this year after being the 31st pick. He only really plays 12 minutes a game. In that time, he averages 4 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 1.3 APG. This doesn’t exactly scream all-star talent. But hell, what do I know, Spencer Dinwiddle has spent more time with Claxton than I have so maybe he has a point. As I said, I am not convinced. While he gave high praise to a rookie on his team, he disrespected a top 5 PG, one that is one his team. It could be because the Nets are 4-6 at the moment and Dinwiddle is frustrated but who knows. If Nicolas Claxton is as good as Spencer Dinwiddle says he is, I’d like for him to play more minutes and use the minutes he has now to be more productive. We’ll see if you are right Spencer Dinwiddle, we will see.
