The New York Knicks have officially lost their edge. They are nothing more than a joke to fans, media, and players. The days of the Knicks having an edge in free agency are over. Kevin Durant opted to sign with the Nets over the Knicks this summer. Now he’s taking shots at the Knicks on top of it all.
Kevin Durant made an appearance on Ebro in the Morning on Hot 97 in New York. He didn’t mince words when it comes to the perception of the Knicks around the league:
“I think a lot of fans look at the Knicks as a brand and expect these younger players who, in their lifetime, don’t remember the Knicks being good,” Durant said. “I’ve seen the Knicks in the Finals, but kids coming up after me didn’t see that. So that whole brand of the Knicks is not as cool as let’s say the Golden State Warriors, or even the Lakers or the Nets now. You know what I’m saying; the cool thing now is not the Knicks.”
The Knicks are not turning things around anytime soon. It starts
What Kevin Durant said about the Knicks isn’t anything different than what we thought already. Enes Kanter ripped the franchise too earlier this offseason. I hope this fuels some fire with the Nets and Knicks rivalry. Not that the Knicks will actually be competitive. It was a downward spiral for them right after they missed out on Zion. Instead, they settled for Julius Randle and a bunch of spare parts this summer. I couldn’t imagine being a Knicks fan.
