The Philadelphia 76ers are well on their way to becoming the Cleveland Browns of the NBA. The league ran Sam Hinkie out of town for trying to lose on purpose. I bet the league didn’t expect things to get even worse. Bryan Colangelo has resigned from his post as the 76ers general manager after embarrassing the organization in the twitter scandal. The coward even blamed his wife! With the 76ers in a tough spot, owner Josh Harris hasn’t ruled out completing the process by bringing back their old mastermind gm, Sam Hinkie, who started it all.
“We have a lot of respect for Sam and we appreciate how he’s positioned our franchise,” Harris said.
“We’re going to do our best to find the absolute best GM and moving forward the absolute best leader of this basketball organization,” Harris said. “We need to start to think about that now. This last week has really been about moving as quickly as we could through this process.”
Hinkie already has a relationship with head coach Brett Brown who is now in control of the entire organization. Brown was hired by Hinkie to be the head coach of the franchise when they were in the tanking days. Brown came over from the Spurs organization since 2013. Brown must have some sort of an appreciation for Hinkie after he acquired Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid to set up the franchise for the long haul.
I’m not sure if Hinkie will be back but David Griffin may be the next guy. Griffin may be the overwhelming favorite if LeBron gives any indication that he will consider the 76ers as his next destination. Regardless if you miss Sam Hinkie like I do you have to play the Bryan Colangelo game. It’s addicting!
