Professional wrestling is COOKING right now. We are in the “Workrate Era” and that means we are entering, what I believe, to be another golden era of wrestling. 2023 was a really great year from an in-ring perspective, and WWE is going to look to continue its success into 2024.
Before we turn our calendars to the new year, I thought it would be fun to kind of take a peek ahead and make some bold predictions about what WWE might do in 2024. With that being said, here are five WWE Bold Predictions heading into 2024.
We start our five WWE bold predictions off with a retirement. Brock Lesnar has been a must-see attraction for WWE since the 2000s, main eventing multiple WrestleManias, SummerSlams you name it. He has had classics with a litany of wrestlers. But I think 2024 is going to be the final time we see Lesnar in the squared circle.
While I think it might be almost too late to begin an angle for his retirement match to happen at WrestleMania 40, I could see a scenario where we get it at this year’s SummerSlam. For a little extra spice, I would LOVE to see him face Gunther (more on him later). One lass hoss fest for Lesnar and he puts over Gunther as the next final boss.
Say what you will about AEW, but without AEW, WWE would not be nearly as good as it is now. With that being said, I think the list of guys we see jump ship from the big dub to AEW will be expansive. A few names that come to mind are Sheamus, Chad Gable, Ricochet and, most notably, Drew McIntyre. I think the potential matchups on the other side will be too great for any man I listed to pass up, and we will see quite a list of guys and gals go over to AEW as the wars continue.
Speaking of jumping ship, third on our list of five WWE bold predictions is an AEW star switching sides. We saw Jade Cargill and Cody Rhodes make the move from AEW to WWE, and I definitely believe we could see MJF in WWE in 2024. The “Bidding War of 2024” will be must see and could really change the course of professional wrestling if he does decide to make the move. Endeavor might see MJF as a can’t-miss talent (which he is) and back the brinks trucks up for him (which he deserves).
I’ll be honest, I never really got the decision to put the Money in the Bank briefcase on Priest. He isn’t a top guy on the mic, he isn’t a guy who can put on classics in the ring and just lacks overall charisma. However, WWE has the potential to really lean into a Priest push, and that is to have the Judgement Day cost him his cash in.
Now, this is not something I would do during one of the Mania main events, but this would be a great way to close a high-end B-show. This would elevate Priest, turning his face and drawing even more heat to the stable.
Ok, maybe this is more of what I personally want than a bold prediction but if there is a man who deserves to be THE guy in WWE, it’s Gunther. He is on the shortlist for Wrestler of the Year in my books, and probably the best all-around performer in the WWE right now.
After you have Gunther go over Lesnar in the summer, you can build him in an angle with CM Punk (who I believe wins the WHC at Mania) and put the title on Gunther at Survivor Series. Punk can have his summer of Punk again, and you have a bonafide megastar holding the belt into Mania 41 in 2025.
2024 is going to be an incredible year for professional wrestling as a whole, and I cannot wait to see what’s in store. WWE is set up for a massive year next year, now we just sit back and enjoy the ride. I have a few more less bold predictions that I will drop below.
