2024 NFL Draft Stock Report Notes: Peach Bowl

We know why you’re here. You’re here for those 2024 NFL Draft notes on the Chick Fil-A Peach Bowl. Don’t worry, I got you. Screw intro paragraphs. Let’s get right to it in the Stock Report Series with Ole Miss and Penn State.

Ole Miss

I’m not a Jaxon Dart fan. I think Lane Kiffin has gotten all that he can out of him (Kiffin is a good coach, by the way). It’s kinda like he’s Sam Darnold with less talent. Not as good of an arm but can move with the terrible decision mixed in along the way. The positive is that he’s tough and athletic. It’s not an empty chest to work with. You have to give him credit on some things. He’s a gamer and isn’t afraid to give his receivers a chance. 25/40 for 379 yards and three touchdowns speaks for himself.

Dart can play himself into a draftable position next year. He held off Spencer Sanders and Walker Howard. Deserves credit for just doing that. Has enough size and can run a bit. I’ll leave it at that.

I think it’s pretty obvious that Tre Harris is the best receiver on Ole Miss. Not a freak like AJ Brown / DK Metcalf, but is better than Jonathan Mingo. Way more of a complete receiver than Mingo was. Actually has a catch radius and attacks the ball. Seven receptions for 134 yards and mostly carried the passing game. Apparently, he’s coming back but a name for next year.

The Ole Miss tight end went nuts. Catching long touchdowns, toe tap cheesing, creating his own YAC. That was impressive. Prieskorn was out making multiple one handed catches. 10 catches for 136 yards and two scores. Had no answer for him. Senior but can return if he wants to. That performance makes it interesting.

Quinshon Judkins had a really nice game and will be one of the first running backs picked in 2025. I thought he was really good in this one. Had a series in the third quarter that just tells you who he is. Defender coming hard in the box, Judkins juked him out of his shoes and then burst for a big gain. Next play he stands up Cobe King in pass protection.

5-foot-11, 210 and is a perfect combination of power and elusiveness. Has proven he can handle a heavy workload too. Wasn’t super efficient in this one (31 carries for 106 yards) but Penn State has been tough to run on all year. His best play also come on a pass play only adding to his value.

Translation: Ole Miss will be very good next year. Especially with what they did in the portal adding guys like Walter Nolen.

Penn State

The Penn State pass rush was highly active. It felt like every play they created pressure. Then the game wore on and Ole Miss basically controlled the game once Abdul Carter got hurt.

Abdul Carter is a FREAK. That’s a top ten pick in 2025 without question. He got rolled up on and was clearly hampered in the second half.

Both of these Penn State backs are really good. Both will be back for next year. Did you see some of those plays Nicholas Singleton made in the passing game? Sheesh! Big back with speed too. That’s RB1 next year.

Penn State were missing a bunch of guys out of the portal. That includes Kalen King. It should also be mentioned that Manny Diaz left for Duke. Number 5 Cam Miller can’t cover. Like not a lick.

I guess we’ll talk about Drew Allar. I may have put the foot on the gas pedal a bit too hard early in the year. I also don’t think you should sell your stock either. You know how I am with the Josh Allen comps. I think they’re all incredibly stupid. However, Allar has some of that in him. When he’s on it’s great. Arm strength may not be Allen but it’s really good. He’s just in the stage where he has absolutely no idea what he’s doing. He got totally lucky on the 75 yard touchdown. He’s also dealing with a midseason coordinator firing. A wide receiver didn’t catch a pass until the fourth quarter. Is that the scheme or Allar not being able to execute the offense?

Let’s agree to throw this season out the window and give Allar a full offseason to improve. Next year will obviously be vital for him. Just no denying that James Franklin (who I think gets too much hate) for sure broke the offense this year.
