2025 Five-Star DT Justus Terry Commits To Texas

We’ve been down this road before, but maybe this time will be different. Justus Terry originally committed to Georgia, the school that had been recruiting him since the eighth grade. However, he would decommit and commit to USC. That lasted for what felt like a day, as he would quickly turn around and decommit again. He has been taking visits and talking with schools since June of this year, and today announced he would be committing to Texas. For how long? Who knows.

In regards to what led to his decision to play for Steve Sarkisian, he had this to say to Horns247:

“They kind of made an improvement,” Terry told Horns247 of where Texas stands in his recruitment after his October OV. “Just coming out here, they answered a lot of my questions. When I came out here I was just opened-minded. They made a big jump on my recruitment.”

Sure, Texas may have made a “big Jump” on his recruitment, but if we are being honest with ourselves, are we totally sure Justus Terry actually suits up for the Longhorns? It’s an honest question we have to have. I mentioned it in a recent article going over a wide receiver who will be on his third team in three years. The wishy-washy nonsense has to stop at some point. This is Terry’s third commitment in a calendar year. Let’s say he does actually play for Texas, who’s to say he isnt going to dip after one year? Maybe these coaches know better than I do, but I do not want that kind of mentality in my locker room.

Justus Terry to Texas gives the Longhorns the top-ranked recruing class in the country. Terry, the number no. 2 defensive linemen and no. 9 overall player is the cherry on top the sundae for Sark as he looks to capitalize on the momentu he has been building at Texas over the last few seasons.
