LSU WR CJ Daniels To Enter Transfer Portal

Let’s have a conversation at the top of this piece. Is it a red flag as a prospect to be wishy-washy? We saw it with Bear Alexander going from Georgia to USC, then leaving but deciding not to. We’ve also seen it this off-season with Justus Terry, the DT prospect who originally committed to Georgia, then flipped to USC, then de-committed from USC, and is being pursued by Texas. Should we be concerned about LSU WR CJ Daniels that he will be joining his third team in three seasons?

I get that this is the world we live in, especially with NIL around for good. Players are going to chase the money before they chase the stats and accolades. CJ Daniels was stellar for Liberty in 2023, totaling 55 receptions for 1,067 yards and 10 touchdowns. But this season at LSU was less than ideal, posting 42 receptions for 480 yards and zero touchdowns. Daniels will have one season of eligibility left, and will probably look to go to a program where he can be the WR1. The only problem is he has been in college since 2020, so he will be an older transfer prospect.

Listen, I don’t want this to come off as a hit piece on CJ Daniels. However, we need to acknowledge the elephant in the room. It’s not a good look for players to just keep flopping from school to school. Sure, in Daniels’ case, this will be his last year so what does it matter? It’s the principle of it all. The world of NIL will ruin the chances we see players stay at a school long term, and maybe it’s the old head in me but I miss that. We’ve gotten too far off track, let’s call it there. End of post.
