2024 NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 12

Going to keep things light this week. I actually left the house for once on a Saturday to attend the annual Friendsgiving party. Don’t worry, I still caught a lot of football. Just not my usual overkill amount of football. For Week 12 of the 2024 NFL Draft Stock Report, we have just two games to go over.

The slate this week includes Georgia vs. Tennessee and Washington vs. Oregon State. Enjoy the notes!

Side note:

I did watch bits and pieces of the Michigan and Maryland game. I understand that Jim Harbaugh isn’t on the sidelines. I understand that this is a look ahead spot on the road with Ohio State next on tap. I need better than that from JJ McCarthy.

This is what I see. Yes, they open up the offense sometimes. At least more than they did with Cade McNamara. I’m not disputing that part. However, I don’t think they trust McCarthy at all in the dropback pass game. 12/23 for 141 yards and a pick against a Maryland team that lost to Northwestern ain’t it.

What are we really holding onto here outside of the fact that he’s athletic? This entire Michigan team is old with several capable supporting cast pieces too. I don’t know how you’re concerned. Especially if you’re one of these teams throwing a dart at a QB in the first round.

Georgia

Carson Beck is the cover image again. That’s right, deal with it. Now this is a real quarterback.

This was all of the things we talked about while continuing to build on top of his game. Never kamikazes himself. Never beats himself. Finished the game going 24/30 with three touchdowns for 298 yards.

I’m so glad someone put this video out because this is exactly what I wanted to talk about today. Is anybody going to talk about how many third downs Beck continues to convert? Georgia went 9-13 on third down and Beck had almost everything to do with it.

Elite quarterbacks find a way to move the sticks on third down. Beck did that and always looked so poised doing it.

I’m just telling you this right now. Beck is skyrocketing up my rankings. I hope you’re ready for it. He’s not just way better than Stetson Bennett. That conversation is over. It’s a matter of who’s better than him.

I understand that Georgia has a lot of talent but I’d argue that outside of Brock Bowers, it’s not like he’s working with a team that’s totally unfair. Beck is doing a lot of this on his own. He also looks and feels like a franchise quarterback. Big, mobile, good arm, makes good decisions, never panics.

What are we worried about here? One year starter. That’s about all you can hold against him at this point with the rest tests against the elite competition coming later in the year.

Won’t spend a ton of time here but Kendall Milton just looks healthier. Can spin now and use some of that power. Is a player that’s been hampered with lower body injuries in the past. Went for 14 carries for 66 yards and a score. More of a complete back than Kenny McIntosh but I’m also not sure he’s better. A hard one but one that teams shouldn’t feel nervous about pulling the trigger in the later rounds. Just know that you’re not getting Nick Chubb.

Got no clue what to make of Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint. He was the receiver who had a big game in this one with two touchdowns. 6-foot-2 but somehow big and skinny at the same time. Also not sure he’s a real receiver but can make plays.

Tykee Smith, I just love. How many tackles is this guy going to make? We already know that he can make plays with the ball in the air. He’s just around the ball all the time. All the time. Javon Bullard had a really nice game too.

Tennessee

Jaylen Wright had another big run. He’s been doing that a lot lately. Went for 75 yards on this one but only finished with 90 for the game. In fairness, Tennessee didn’t give him the ball. How do you only run the ball nine times with the way Joe Milton throws the ball?

I’m not sure how good the guy is but the speed sure looks like it’s there. At some point, it’s not an accident that he keeps hitting these home runs.

Joe Milton disgusts me. WTF was that? I’m getting real tired of saying that every week. I’ll just make this comp so that you really understand what’s going on here.

For those who have been reading the site for a long time, I was a Tua Tagovailoa defender when everybody wanted to kill the guy. The bottom line with Tua is he’s accurate. You can never take that away from him and he’s since turned into a hit for that very reason. At some point, you have to get the ball to your intended target. Milton hasn’t shown the ability to do that. This is not a Josh Allen situation either where he’s significantly outmanned while playing for Wyoming. Hendon Hooker was basically a Heisman candidate. Milton instead goes out there and produces 17/30 for 4.9 yards per pass. It’s gross and I’m over it. Congratulations on being able to throw it far. He’s too old for this to keep happening.

I’m excited to see what Squirrel White can do next year. I got nothing else to talk about with this tragic team.

Washington

Winning on the road in college football is hard. Oregon State is genuinely a pretty good team. That certainly wasn’t an A level performance by Michael Penix. 5.8 yards per attempt is not good. I also really worry about the lefty part of this. He’s not as accurate as Tua and made several mistakes that should have cost him. Made a big run for a touchdown and converted a key third down to seal the win. Outside of that, was there a singular moment that got you excited?

I’m not sure there is a quarterback that makes me more nervous than Penix. I wouldn’t sleep at night if I turned the card in for him. He’s been so good that I don’t want to say he sucks but god there are so many red flags that are hard to ignore. We’re talking about a guy that started in 2018. He should be dominating. I’m not sure I’m calling this dominating.

To me, Rome Odunze is the one that makes me feel better every time I see him. Guy is just a dude in a good way. Another eggplant emoji type of performance (seven receptions for 106 yards and two scores). If you gave Odunze to Oregon State, I think they win the game. Then what do you say about Penix?

Oregon State

If Tank Dell can make it, why can’t Silas Bolden?

If DJ Uiagalelei scored one singular touchdown, Oregon State would have won the game. Such a shame because he really played like trash and could have really gotten the Beavers in an interesting spot.
