2024 College Football Best Games of the Week: Week 11

This Saturday should be a solid day of football with two huge ranked SEC matchups. Also, a lot of the other games have big conference championship implications. I’d say the new CFB playoff format has created some higher-stakes games this week that we might not have gotten in the past. There are multiple shootouts on the docket and with every coming week, the Heisman race gets tighter. Here, are my picks for the 2024 college football games of the week for week eleven.

Honorable Mentions: Oklahoma State @ TCU, No. 25 Army @ North Texas, No. 17 Iowa State @ Kansas

5) South Carolina @ Vanderbilt

This is a fun matchup between two SEC teams having solid 2024 college football seasons. South Carolina is 5-3 after handily beating No. 10 Texas A&M last week. QB LaNorris Sellers and RB Raheim Sanders ran all over the Aggies as they combined for 250 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Also, the Gamecock defense has been staunch the past two weeks. Now, South Carolina will have the tough task of slowing down the Vanderbilt offense.

Vandy is having an amazing year as they are 6-3 and 3-2 in SEC conference play. The Commodores have won four of their last five and the last was by three points against No. 5 Texas. QB Diego Pavia is getting the job done through the air and on the ground as he has 19 total touchdowns this season. This week 11 CFB matchup should be a close game between two competitive SEC teams looking to build on their impressive seasons.

4) No. 4 Miami @ Georgia Tech

The amazing Miami season continues as they are 9-0. This could be the toughest game left on their regular season schedule. The Hurricanes were down 11 early in the third quarter but the high-powered offense rallied to outscore Duke 36-3 to finish the game. QB Cam Ward is playing like the Heisman front-runner and possibly the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Also, WR Xavier Restrepo had a monster day with 8 receptions, 146 yards, and 3 touchdowns.

However, Georgia Tech is set up to pull off a massive upset at home on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets have the offensive ability to compete in a shootout with Miami. QB Haynes King might not play but if he does the combo of him and RB Jamal Haynes can put up a lot of points. The Miami defense event has to step up because Cam Ward can not play superhero every single game. This week eleven game should be a high-scoring affair as the over/under is 63.5 and there is some upset potential here.

3) No. 20 Colorado @ Texas Tech

I picked what should be another week 11 shootout as a top-five game of the week. No. 20 Colorado was on bye last week but they are in a solid position to play in the Big 12 Championship game. The Buffalos would need to win their conference championship if they want to make the college football playoff. Furthermore, This is probably the hardest game remaining on their regular season schedule. QB Shedeur Sanders and WR/DB Travis Hunter should be able to take advantage of this beatable Texas Tech defense.

Texas Tech is coming off an upset over No. 11 Iowa State last week. Now, they can pull off back-to-back ranked upsets while trying to keep their Big 12 title game chances alive. The Red Raiders have a high-powered offense of their own with QB Beheren Morton and RB Tahj Brooks. This game should be fun with a lot of Big 12 and CFB Playoff implications on the line in week eleven.

2) No. 11 Alabama @ No. 15 LSU

This game is always one of the most exciting games of the year because it is a big rivalry game. However, this year it feels like it could go either way as neither of these teams are a juggernaut. Both these teams are 6-2 with their SEC title hopes and CFB Playoff hopes on the line. This matchup has all the huge outside factors as well as the on-field talent to create a great game.

There will be a fun QB matchup between Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier. It will be interesting to see which defense will step up and be able to create some important stops late in this game. Everyone should get their popcorn ready for what might be the best week 11 matchup.

Game of the Week: No. 3 Georgia @ No. 16 Ole Miss

I decided on the Georgia @ Ole Miss game to be the game of the week due to their being a top-five seed involved. Also, I think Ole Miss might have a better chance to be Georgia compared to the past few years. This is another huge SEC game with title and 2024 college football playoff implications on the line. The Rebels have struggled against Georgia in the past but an upset here would set them up greatly to make the playoff. Unfortunately, head coach Lane Kiffin does not have the best record in must-win games.

Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart has been outplaying Georgia QB Carson Beck, who has looked bad recently. This matchup can be a statement win for either team and it will likely get them into the CFB playoff. Both teams have great defensive lines as well as terrific weapons on offense. This game will hopefully live up to the hype and deliver a back-and-forth thriller. These were my 2024 college football games of the week for week 11.
