2023 NFL Draft War Room: Minnesota Vikings

War Room
What should the Minnesota Vikings do during the 2023 NFL Draft? Let’s head inside the War Room to try to fix this team! (Harrison Barden-USA TODAY Sports)

2023 NFL Draft War Room: Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings feel stuck. It mostly has everything to do with Kirk Cousins, but I’m not sure their GM is smart either. I guess we’ll try to fix them even if it feels like a moot point. I feel bad for Vikings fans because their team feels incredibly boring even though I wish they weren’t because my favorite color is purple. Anyway… let’s get into the 2023 NFL Draft War Room for the Minnesota Vikings!

  • First Round, 23rd overall selection
  • Third Round, 87th overall selection
  • Fourth Round, 119th overall selection
  • Fifth Round, 158th overall selection
  • Sixth Round, 211th overall selection (compensatory)

Not having a second round pick because of the dumb TJ Hockenson trade sucks. Let’s just call it how it is. This Kwesi dude is one of the dumbest people running an NFL team today. The track record isn’t very lengthy but the list of idiotic mistakes is starting to pile up. How does that decision to trade down and give away Jameson Williams look now after Adam Thielen is gone?

Ideally, the Vikings should search for that Theilen replacement at some point. Otherwise, the best strategy here for Minnesota might be to continue to fortify the offensive line. Giving Kirk Cousins more time to throw is about the best thing they can do right now other than simply replacing him.

The defense also blows and hasn’t gotten better. You won’t convince me of that unless you’re counting losing Ed Donatell as an addition. This defense is pretty much a blank canvas outside of safety. Getting a linebacker to replace Eric Kendricks feels like a priority. Yes, I know Brian Asamoah exists but it’s not enough. The only problem is linebacker is the weakest position the 2023 NFL Draft provides. I don’t think the Vikings can walk out of this draft without picking one.

Other than that, Minnesota should really consider moving down here. Their dumbass GM gave away too many picks on a team that’s not close to actually winning anything. Moving down to double up on pass rushers and corners feels like a must.
