The fantasy football waiver wire has some interesting players who are potential targets heading in Week 8. Let’s discuss the five players that are actually worth a roster spot as we continue to navigate through NFL bye weeks.
The following players were fantasy football waiver wire targets in previous weeks and are still worth an addition if available.
The Los Angeles Rams running back room has been a struggle to understand. With Kyren Williams on Injured Reserve, it is time to pick up the Rams new starting back. That seems to be Darrell Henderson.
Henderson led the Rams backfield in Week 7 with 18 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown. In the secondary role, Royce Freeman got 12 carries for 66 yards. That left rookie Zach Evans with no touches.
It seems like Henderson will be the Rams lead back until Willaims returns. Although, I would not get over-excited. It seems impossible to figure out who the Rams will utilize the most. Personally, I am 0-2 trying to figure that out. I thought Cam Akers would be the lead back entering the season and believed Evans would get work with Williams out.
The one saving grace about Henderson is that we have seen he used in the Rams’ offense. That makes me more optimistic he will be used in the coming weeks.
The Kyler Murray return is getting closer. The Arizona Cardinals quarter is eligible to return and will likely suit up in the coming weeks.
If you are in a highly competitive league, Murray is likely rostered. Still, I was surprised to see he is only rostered in 22.6 percent of leagues.
I will not go too in-depth with Murray because this is fairly simple. Once he returns, Murray will be a high-level fantasy quarter. It is worth stashing him for a couple of weeks while you wait for his return.
The tight end position has been awful in 2023 fantasy football. The waiver wire has barely helped either. Thankfully, as we head into Week 8, Kincaid has emerged as a legitimate fantasy option.
Kincaid is coming off his best game of the season. The rookie is coming off an eight-catch, 75-yard performance. Kincaid’s increased role in the Bills offense provides him a lot of upside. I want pieces in an elite offense. You can rarely find a tight end in an elite offense on the waiver wire. That makes Kincaid worth the swing.
The Arizona Cardinals running back room has been another tough group to figure out. With James Connor on Injured Reserve, Emari Demercado, Keaontay Ingram and Damien Williams have all seen touches.
Demercado was the lead back in Week 7, as he finished with 13 carries for 58 yards. On top of that, he added four catches for 17 yards.
I do not love Demerado and would not stress over adding him. At worst, he can help patch holes caused by injuries and bye weeks. That provides value, but he still does not present league-winning upside.
I am falling for the Tayson Hill trap once again. The New Orleans Saints tight end has been making an impact lately. Hill has had his best two games in the Saints’ most recent outings.
As previously discussed, the tight-end position is an absolute wasteland if you do not have an elite option. At this point, you may as well take a swing on Hill. The Saints offense is using Hill more and getting him involved in the red zone, making him the only tight end in the league that could get goalline rushing touchdowns. The upside is high.
It is evident that Hill is best used in best ball formats. He is worth the addition if you are in a best-ball league. The big game upside is too hard to ignore, making him one of the top fantasy waiver wire targets this week.
