Up to this point in the NFL season, we have been treated to some fantastic slates of games. It seems like every week I have to carefully choose five games and have multiple left over for honorable mention. Sadly, Week 7 of the 2022 NFL season has the opposite challenge: finding five good games to watch. This slate of matchups doesn’t excite me very much, but we can find diamonds in the rough. Here is the list of the NFL’s best games of the week for Week 7!
Honorable Mention: Packers at Commanders, Bears at Patriots, Giants at Jaguars
To start our list of the best games of the week in the NFL is a game that honestly could finish with a score of 3-0. Both defenses are playing at a high level, where the offenses leave some to be desired. I have this listed because if Denver happens to lose this game, I could see a scenario where head coach Nathaniel Hackett gets fired. This has been a disastrous start to the season, and a loss to the Jets could be the final nail in the coffin.
This Sunday’s matchup marks the return of Dak Prescott, who has been out of action since injuring his thumb in Week 1. What a game to come back for as well, as the Cowboys host the Lions who have the worst defense in the league. Fantasy owners of Prescott should not be holding their breath for a massive game from him, but I would expect him to hit his projected score this week. However, a bad performance here could have people talking about Cooper Rush again.
It may have taken a little bit, but Derrick Henry is finally looking like his true self, and that is the best running back in the league. He is hitting his stride at the perfect time and anchoring this Tennessee offense that doesn’t show much life in the passing game. The Colts, on the other hand, finally showed some life throwing the ball last week. Which middling offense will put up more than 24 points to find a way to win this game?
In reality, this probably should top the best games of the week in the NFL, but it felt repetitive to have the Chiefs at the top week after week. There is no question about it though, this should be a great game. The 49ers are plagued with injuries but still have a top defense in the league, and what better matchup to have than a top offense against a top defense? San Francisco is plus-three dogs at home, and everyone loves a home dog.
The Steelers-Dolphins game marks the return of Tua Tagovailoa after a scary head injury a few weeks ago. Miami is looking to bounce back after a rough stretch with Tua gone, and with him returning their offense should find that rhythm they were building before the injury. For the Steelers, they squeaked out a victory over the Bucs at home last week with the banged-up defense carrying the load to victory. It will be interesting to see if their defense can keep up with the track meet offense they have in Miami or if this is a blowout.
