2022 Fantasy Football Breakout Candidates: Week 11

We are officially into Week 11 of the 2022 NFL Season, which began with the Tennessee Titans defeating the struggling Green Bay Packers Thursday, 27-17, in Lambeau Field — days after Green Bay picked up an invigorating 31-28 overtime victory against the Dallas Cowboys four days prior. That said, let’s jump into possible fantasy football breakout options for Week 11 — but first, let’s examine how we did in Week 10.

Week 9 was one of the best weeks I’ve had all season. Week 10 wasn’t. Let’s bounce back in Week 11! Time to throw darts at breakout candidates!

Michael Gallup, WR, Dallas Cowboys

Gallup has been relatively quiet since returning from injury at the start of Week 4, having not logged more than four catches in each of his first six games. On Sunday, he will be going up against a beat-up Minnesota secondary that has been in the middle-of-the-pack in pass defensive DVOA this season. CeeDee Lamb and Dalton Schultz will get their own, but don’t be surprised if Gallup breaks out against the Vikings on Sunday.

Alvin Kamara, RB, New Orleans Saints

Kamara’s had a very down last couple of weeks, totaling 17 combined carries for 56 yards against the Ravens and Steelers. Yes, their matchup this week against the Los Angeles Rams isn’t very favorable either, but the Saints are on the brink of losing their third straight and five of their last six. They certainly will if they can’t get their star running back going. At home, in the dome, expect the Saints to make Kamara a focal — whether in the run or pass — Sunday.

Daniel Jones, QB, New York Giants

Jones has done just enough to keep the 7-2 New York Giants offense afloat. That helps when your offensive line has been much better (with a potential All-Pro in Andrew Thomas?) and you have one of the top running backs in the league in Saquon Barkley. He’s only thrown for 200-plus yards twice, which is essentially all he’s needed to do. But Jones will be up against one of the worst pass defenses in the league this week, and one that he could utilize his legs against, upping his fantasy value. I like Jones eclipsing 17-18-plus fantasy points for the third time in four weeks this week. A sleeper breakout candidate!

Trey McBride, TE, Arizona Cardinals

It was confirmed this week that Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz would be out for the season with a knee injury, so now comes the #NextManUp™: rookie tight end Trey McBride.

McBride, who has four catches for 31 yards in 2022, was arguably the top pass-catching tight end in the country at Colorado State his senior year, but now he’s tasked with filling a big hole. The Cardinals don’t have many viable pass catching options outside of DeAndre Hopkins, who did not practice Thursday due to a hamstring injury ahead of Monday’s game against San Francisco. Can McBride emerge onto the scene? We’re about to find out over the next several weeks.
