2021 Vendetta Awards
People look forward to this for some reason. The awards were a smashing success last year. Eventually, we will have an in-person show but we’re not there yet. I hate opening paragraphs (most of the time) so let’s get right into it.
Rookie Of The Year: Adam Krieger
Mount St. Vincent wins again, huh? Last year, Anthony Fontanello won this award. This year it’s Kriegs Korner. Gotta give it to him. Guy cares and wants to be great. Felt like the obvious choice. Has worked his ass off to become a better blogger and podcast host.
Best Trash Talker: Alex Chick
Chickster just has the volume on his side. The thing I’ve noticed with Chickster is that he will continue to win this award based on the fact that he makes it a point of emphasis to involve himself in things that have nothing to do with him. As long as he continues to do that, he will be in the running for this award every year.
I will say Garrett was nipping at his heels but he backed off towards the end of the year.
Best Brain: Emma Brown
This is Emma Brown’s world. We’re just living in it. But in all seriousness, Emma is an incredible person that continues to blossom into a beautiful flower. I continue to be proud of the person she’s becoming. She’s got a hell of a brain on her.
Most Delusional Fan: Alex Chick
The Blazers superfan won last year. It’s only right if Chickster wins this one. He’s basically tried to defend all of the Raiders personnel decisions. No one else can possibly win this award.
Best Duo: Karl & Cervantes
There really isn’t another duo here worth considering. Eventually, they will have competition but the college basketball boys are like real friends. I hope they carve a real niche in the College Basketball realm.
Best Video Series: Sophie Sargent
No offense to anyone else, but everything Sophie Sargent touches turns to gold. There is no winner in the best video series. It just goes to Sophie.
Best Podcast: That’s Some Cheese
Listen, I didn’t want to give myself an award, but I felt like I had to. A few weeks ago, I had everyone fill out an anonymous company form. It was pretty obvious that Cheese stands above the rest and it’s not really close. I didn’t want to give myself an award but I didn’t feel like I had a choice because it would be disingenuous to list another show.
Best Article Series: Andrew McGuinness Flyers Fan Reaction
I rarely feel as though I can’t do something as a writer. I’m not sure I could do what young Andrew does and that’s saying something. Andrew makes you think, provides a perspective that isn’t obvious to the mind, and provides details that make you pause. He’s unbelievable and has a lot to do with the progression of our hockey team.
MVP: Courtney Plumer
I think I would die a little bit inside if Courtney left this company. Courtney is my rock, pseudo therapist, and probably the most important person at this company that doesn’t have the name, Trey. Courtney is one of the most incredible people I have ever met. She helps keep me sane and does so many things for this place to keep it functional. She always has the ability to say things that don’t make me mad while questioning if I’m doing the correct thing or not. I don’t know what I would do without her and that makes her the MVP.
