We’re at the home stretch, folks. It’s time to cover the Washington Redskins 2020 NFL Draft war room. Ron Rivera is the new cat in charge of everything. Rivera was given GM duties so this is his ship. At the end of the day, this draft will likely be very simple for the Redskins. You will see in a second. It’s war room time!
The Redskins only have 6 picks in this draft. Two of those picks are in the 7th round. Washington has picks that sit at 2, 66, 108, and 142. That’s all Washington has going for them. The Montez Sweat trade took their 2nd round pick away.
At number two, this pick is easy. The Redskins can turn in the card now. Chase Young is going to be the pick. I have to give credit to Joel Klatt because he said this while broadcasting a game and it’s 100 percent true. Chase Young is the Barry Bonds of college football. If you don’t double team him on every snap, it’s going to be a long day for you. It’s like Bonds where he got 1 pitch to hit every game. That ball went into the cheap seats. Turn the card in and don’t look back. You don’t pass on Hall of Famers.
Let’s go with Malik Harrison in the third round. Thomas Davis was signed in free agency but how much longer does he have left? Reuben Foster can’t be counted on either. Jon Bostic and Josh Harvey-Clemmons are meh. Harrison could fix that position for the long term and has great coverage skills.
In the fourth round, how about a weapon for Dwayne Haskins? Scratch that. How about two weapons? The Skins have two fourth round picks and both should go towards helping their young quarterback. Jordan Reed is done, done. Terry McLaurin is the only receiver on the roster worth anything. Let’s try to fix that. Maybe Washington rolls the dice on Antonio Gandy Golden. Gotta be honest, I can’t figure out what Gandy Golden is but he feels like a boom or bust pick to take a swing on. How about Hunter Bryant at tight end? Whoever the Redskins pick will be plugged in as a starter. Bryant could be the man for the job and has some interesting receiving skills.
