2020 hasn’t brought much change to the Tennessee Titans. Ryan Tannehill was retained and the franchise tag was slapped on Derrick Henry. The Titans will bring much of the band back together in 2020. The same band that went to the AFC Championship Game. The problem is, have the Titans reached their ceiling? That’s the reason the 2020 NFL Draft is an important one for this franchise. Let’s dive into their 2020 NFL Draft War Room to try to get a sense of who Tennessee might pick.
The Titans have just 6 picks this year. No 4th or 6th round pick. The main picks they do have sit at 29, 61, and 93. Standard late round picks. Let’s get right to it.
I think the Titans dream scenario would be to land a tackle at 29. Tennessee was not able to retain Jack Conklin in free agency. The running game is the heart of this team. I’m going to guess that’s where Jon Robinson ideally wants to go with this pick. It’s doubtful one of the top 4 tackles falls. Then again, Robinson maneuvered for Conklin when they drafted him so I don’t rule that out.
Robinson has some options. Ezra Cleveland, Austin Jackson, and Josh Jones could be hot names in that range. Maybe Isaiah Wilson is available in the 2nd round. It’s actually a decent tackle draft so it’s not like the Titans don’t have options. Dennis Kelly could also slide in and start if they strike out.
Trading Jurrell Casey left a black hole up front. I get why they traded him because they needed the cap space. Still, that’s not an easy man to replace. Outside of Jeffery Simmons, there is nobody you feel good about up front. I’m sure the Titans would love for someone like Neville Gallimore, Marlon Davidson or Ross Blacklock to fall that far. Who knows. Rashard Lawrence could be a good dice roll too.
At some point, they also have to upgrade cornerback. How long are they going to let Malcolm Butler stink up the joint? Go draft someone.
