Some years there are good drafts. Some years there are bad drafts. The fact that people are just glossing over the name Derrick Brown exemplifies how strong the 2020 NFL Draft is. Let me just get right to the point. Derrick Brown is a monster. That’s it. I could end the article right there if I wanted to. The team that ends up drafting the Auburn defensive tackle is getting a home run, can’t miss prospect. Derrick Brown is going to make some team very happy.

Derrick Brown has one skillset that I’m not sure you can teach. Brown might be the strongest player I’ve ever watched. Rag dolling offensive lineman in college translates. If there is one play that defines Derrick Brown, it’s this one below.

If you don’t know, that’s LSU. They had the best offensive line in the country this past year. He pushed Damien Lewis (who is a legit NFL guard prospect backward so far that his own offensive lineman sacked Joe Burrow. That’s who Derrick Brown is. All of the words you use to describe elite players; freak, monster, killer… Derrick Brown is all of those things.

It’s worth repeating, this might be the strongest defensive line prospect I’ve ever seen. 28 bench press reps is pretty damn good too for 34 1/2 inch arms. Brown is a total load pushing the pocket. 6-foot-5, 326 pounds of monster genes.

I think the thing that really sets Brown a part is his athletic traits. Brown is always super quick off the snap and really does incredible things in terms of pure athleticism.

I can’t remember a time where a big guy his size had the football in his hands so many times in a season. He looked pretty good doing it too. Brown is so good that often times double teams are just not enough. It allowed his teammates to really flourish.

How many defensive tackles just bullied Solomon Kindley this year? The answer is just Derrick Brown.

I’m not saying Brown is a lock to be the next Aaron Donald. The NFL Draft is all about minimizing risk. You will not miss with Brown. I can promise you the GM that picks Brown will be happy 5 years later. How good will Brown become? That remains to be seen. All I know is this is a can’t miss prospect.
