Zinchenko Should be a Very Versatile Weapon at Arsenal

Oleksandr Zinchenko finalized his move to Arsenal after a summer of speculation and the deal was closed for €32 million. This is the second Manchester City player the Gunners have bought this summer and should help further strengthen their bid for a UEFA Champions League spot in the upcoming season.

Zinchenko was definitely a quality purchase by manager Mikel Arteta due to a variety of reasons. At the very least, he’s a safe, Premier League proven player that knows how to win and has the capability to play multiple positions. As a natural midfielder and playing in the middle of the park for his country, Zinchenko is a tremendous rotational center midfielder for Arsenal and helps fill an important gap in the team which was exposed last season. On top of that he can do a job as an outside back as well, playing there for City, which is extremely important considering Kieran Tierney’s injury issues (he also isn’t that good) and Nuno Tavares’ struggles this season.

As for Zinchenko himself, this move should be seen as a major victory as well. He is no longer just a second team player who rarely gets time in the most important of games. For Arsenal, Zinchenko should find himself starting quite a few matches this upcoming season and surely playing an integral role. With his positional versatility, I’d have to think there will be plenty of opportunities for him to shine. Based off his tremendous performances for Ukraine recently, I think Zinchenko is a really creative player with the ball at his feet and a tremendous ball winner which should bode well for his success in the red and white.

Mikel Arteta’s plan is clear. He has the foundation firmly in place and this summer has focused on filling the holes in his squad with extremely versatile players that are all tremendous with the football on their feet. Zinchenko makes perfect sense for Arteta’s goals and at his reasonable price, the signing was a beneficial one for Arsenal. With all the new signings now, I can’t wait for this upcoming season. Come on you Gunners!
