Zac Taylor Still Sucks As A Head Coach

Did Zac Taylor just coach in the Super Bowl? Yes. Is he still a terrible coach? Absolutely. Why? Because he kept hamstringing his offense with questionable decisions all game long.

Stubborn Running Stays Stubborn

I honestly have no idea why Zac Taylor is so passionate about establishing the run. In the Super Bowl, he ran the ball on first down at least ten times, and I could count on one hand how many of those actually set up favorable situations. Then, late in the game, under a minute left with one timeout on third and one while trailing, he decides to run it into the heart of the Rams’ defense. Right at a pissed off Aaron Donald. Excuse me? When is that ever a good idea? It’s a terrible idea no matter how you look at it. Situationally it sucks, matchup wise it sucks, just absolutely terrible.

Zac Taylor was dead set on handicapping and limiting Joe Burrow. He wanted the game in the hands of his crappy offensive line. On four different third and short or fourth and short situations, Joe Mixon was not in the game to get those handoffs. What? How? That’s just disgraceful. Who thinks like that? It’s a bad idea to run it anyway but it’s even worse.

His mindset took away the Bengals’ best chance of winning, and Joe Burrow almost willed them to a victory in the face of this adversity. The Bengals have to think long and hard about any potential extension for Taylor. I say he doesn’t deserve one now. I’m convinced he had nothing to do with Burrow’s development, and his in-game decisions further prove me right.
