You won’t believe how much Miami is paying Carson Beck in NIL

Well, it all makes sense now. Many people were surprised to hear that Carson Beck was transferring to the University of Miami. Especially considering he had declared for the NFL Draft just a few days prior. Nonetheless, as of now, Beck stands to be the Canes starting QB for the 2025 season, and with the NIL deal he was offered, I can’t say I blame him.

If the reports are true, then Miami will pay Carson Beck $4 million to be their starting QB next season. The deal would put Beck in the same territory as Darian Mensah, who reportedly received a 2-year contract from Duke worth $8 million.

Miami was in the market for a QB, with Cameron Ward declaring for the draft. Now, it seems they have their guy for at least one more year. Miami just missed the playoffs this year and is looking to hold onto that momentum by bringing in another experienced Senior in Carson Beck.

As for Beck, I’m not quite sure how this will play out. It wasn’t all bad at Georgia, where he went 24-3 as a starter. But this year, many expected Beck to truly emerge as the top quarterback and potentially top pick in the NFL Draft.

However, that wasn’t the case this year due to various injuries, including a torn UCL that ended his underwhelming season. It just seemed like Beck wasn’t playing his best football and maybe a change of scenery is what he needs.

Miami certainly has the tools to allow Carson Beck to succeed. They just won 10 games and are hungry to earn a playoff spot after just missing out. Beck will also look to re-establish himself as one of the top QBs in college football and show NFL teams why he was once a surefire first-round pick.

Aside from that, his current girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, is a guard on the women’s basketball team. Which, I mean, had to have had some influence on his decision to end up in Miami for one year.

Beck won’t start throwing again until March, and it will be interesting to see how he responds to the surgery. But if he can come back and put the injury behind him, the sky is the limit for Miami next year. It only cost them $4 million.

However, I don’t think it’s all sunshine on both ends. For Carson Beck, you have some pretty big shoes to fill. Ward just finished with over four thousand passing yards and 40+ total TDs. I’m not outright saying Beck isn’t capable of that, I really just don’t see it happening.

On the other hand, Miami had a terrible defense last year. It was the entire reason they didn’t make the College Football Playoff. Obviously, Miami will look to address that, but how much better can you make that defense in one year?

But for now, Miami has their QB, and Carson Beck gets both the change of scenery and cash he was looking for. Man, what has college football become?
